INTERACTIVE Mapping OF LOCAL art
Background
The "MapaSztuki" (Polish for "Art Map") project was conceived as a digital platform to connect artists with art enthusiasts, collectors, and curators across Poland. It aims to provide users with a unique opportunity to discover artist studios, gain insights into the creative process, and schedule personal visits. The project also seeks to promote sustainable and digital practices within the arts community, creating a space where tradition meets innovation.
Project
Our task was to design and develop a website that brings this vision to life. Accessibility was a key focus throughout the design process. To ensure inclusivity, we implemented features aligned with WCAG 2.1 standards, such as high contrast, large typography, and a toggle for a black-and-white color scheme to enhance readability. Additionally, we introduced a text enlargement option, making the site more user-friendly for individuals with varying needs. The website includes an interactive map showcasing artist studios, each with a profile featuring photos, videos, a description of their work, and a scheduling option for direct visits. Educational resources promoting sustainable art practices and modern technology integration were integrated as a core feature of the platform.
Outcomes
The completed website, mapasztuki.pl, stands out as a unique initiative on a national scale, playing a pivotal role in promoting local artistry and eco-conscious practices. The project creates unparalleled opportunities for art enthusiasts and collectors to connect directly with artists in the intimate setting of their studios. By offering deeper insights into the creative process, it fosters authentic relationships between creators and their audiences while setting a new benchmark for how digital platforms can support the arts.
